Overview:

When residents are grouped together, they share their meal plan funds—if one person’s balance runs out, they can use available funds from another group member’s account.

This setup is ideal for families or roommates who want to share meal credits, ensuring purchases are accurately tracked and deducted across all linked accounts.  This feature is only available for meal plans with a Declining Dollar balance.

Shared Balances can be found on each group member’s profile in SICC and will reflect the sum total of all meal plan balances within that group.

Key terms:

  • Meal Plan Balance
The remaining dollar amount in a resident’s individual meal plan. Each purchase reduces this balance.
  • Shared Balances
A feature that allows residents in a group to use each other’s meal plan funds. If one resident’s balance runs out, available funds from another group member can cover purchases.
  • Balance Billable
The portion of a resident’s balance or group balance that can be charged for transactions, reflecting amounts available for billing.
  • Payer ID
The identifier assigned to the account responsible for paying charges. In a people group, the secondary account’s payer ID is populated with the primary account’s billing ID.
  • Billing ID
The unique identifier for a resident’s account used to track charges and payments. The original billing ID is preserved even when shared balances or group structures are applied.
